Pecking away at Eat Pray Love

At last I’ve acquired a copy of Eat Pray Love. I’ve been managing to grab minutes of reading in between a madly hectic schedule the last two weeks – but not the kind of reading I would like to do with this tantalizing book. So far I’m discovering Elizabeth Gilbert’s witty, honest, tongue-in-cheek, style of putting across the touchy topic of the existence and concept of God. She introduces the topic of GOD with light humour intended to put readers at ease with their concept of ‘the great being’. Then she declares that she’s approaching the topic up front for two reasons – that a great deal of her experience (and thus, the book) has to do with her encounter with God, and that she wants people to know up front, how offended they need to get. I love that!
This is the kind of writing I love – cheeky, open, heart-baring, entertaining. When will I get the time to curl up with this goodie? I hope soon. In the meantime, I’m taking short reads every chance I get during my sleep-deprived days/nights.
