Take care of your make up tools - courtesy Arelys Xavier

Ok ladies, I hope you’ve been cleansing, toning and mositurising your pretty little faces away. It’s the first step to really beautiful skin and makeup.
Now I know some of you will say, I don't like make up because it damages my skin, or make up doesn't agree with my skin. Quite often ladies, why a lot of you come to this conclusion is because the makeup tools you are using, or the products in your make up bag might very well be causing you to have a breakout.
Come on ladies how many of you have a face puff in your make up bag that looks like a dog bit it up, or have eye shadow or mascara in your make up bag for years? Girls if you can't remember when you bought it or how long you have it then it’s time to throw it away.
Sometimes it can be dirty tools or old make up that can be causing you to have an allergic reaction to make up.

So here are a few tips on taking care of the products you put on your face..

The face puff
If your face puff looks like a rag, it’s time to throw it out. A pack of 3 puffs in most cosmetic stores is less than $7.00, so there is no excuse not to replace it. Remember when you use a face puff, sweat and bacteria collect over time, depending on how often you use it, so you should ideally replace it every few weeks.

Foundation sponges and brushes
Ok these were not made to last forever, and you can buy a bag of sponges really cheap at most cosmetic stores or drugstores. The important thing is to change your sponges regularly because they also  hold sweat and bacteria and can harm your facial skin. If you have foundation brushes you can clean them with baby oil and then spray them with rubbing alcohol. For a deep clean, use a little shampoo – this will have them feeling and looking good as new.

Other applicators
For all of your other make up brushes you can clean them with rubbing alcohol, and for a deep cleaning, use a little shampoo.

Buying products
As far as the products that you use on your face, use the best that your budget can afford. Bear in mind when you’re buying your products that some of us spend lots of money on items for the house, or other people and leave ourselves for last, so here is a thought - this product is going on your face, the face you are gonna see every day and the face that says a lot about who you are, so choose products that will keep your face happy,

How long to keep products for
Here are some basic make up items and an idea on how long they can be used with best results:
Mascara 3 months,
Powders and foundations 6 months
Eye shadows (depending on brand) 1 year
Lipsticks 1 year
**Ladies, if I missed any products that you may be curious about just let me know.
